A Call for Proposal for 2008 CLASS meeting at ACTFL Convention

Submission Deadline: January 11, 2008
A call for proposal is now open to all CLASS members
2008 ACTFL ANNUAL CONVENTION
November 21-23, 2008 at Orlando, Florida

This year all CLASS sessions for K-12 Chinese teachers went very well at ACTFL Convention on November 15-18, 2007 at San Antonia, Texas. CLASS is now accepting session proposal for its 2008 meeting in conjunction with ACTFL Convention. Session proposals need to be submitted through ACTFL system by logging in at http://ACTFL.org. Be sure to check off CLASS as the co-sponsoring organization. Each presenter can only submit one proposal to allow more CLASS teachers to make presentations at the national conference. Each 75-minute session can include up to three presenters.

The theme for the 2008 ACTFL Convention is Opening Minds to the World Through Languages. CLASS welcomes proposals with focus on the teaching and learning of Chinese at K-12 schools in the following areas:

• Learn culture through language (using examples of interdisciplinary approach)
• Standards-based instruction (methods, curriculum design, teaching materials, etc.)
• Performance- based assessment for K-12 Chinese learners
• Integration of technology into the Chinese classroom

To better serve our members, CLASS has created A Proposal Submission Hotline to help our members write good proposals. Please send your draft by or before December 20 to CLASS News at CLASSNews@yahoo.com .

“Tips on how to prepare proposal”
