Application Deadline: March 30, 2007 For More Information: Go to www.actfl.org/scholarship or call (703) 894-2900 ACTFL/CLASS Discovering Chinese Summer Program For Teachers CLASS is pleased to announce that the Discover Chinese Initiative jointly sponsored by CLASS and ACTFL is accepting application from teachers of Chinese to participate in the 2007 summer professional development program. CLASS Board of Directors, Yu-Lan Lin and Carol Chen-Lin, have been working tirelessly with ACTFL and Glastonbury Public Schools for the preparation of the grant proposal. Janice Dowd, CLASS curriculum consultant, will serve as the on-site director during the summer program. There is no cost for the selected teachers for the program. Summer Professional Development Program for Teachers of Chinese Are you interested in expanding your knowledge about teaching Mandarin Chinese language and culture? If so, consider applying for a scholarship to attend the Discover Chinese Summer Professional Development Program! What: An intensive two-week program that will allow you to participate in a professional development program that will focus on quality instruction, curriculum and assessments for high school Chinese programs. Who: This program is open to both current teachers of Mandarin Chinese and those who are interested in teaching Chinese. Where: The program will take place in Glastonbury Public Schools, Glastonbury, CT but will also involve visits to Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, CT. When: Two program dates are available: July 5-15, 2007 and July 14-25, 2007. Cost: There is no cost to teachers selected for the program. Each teacher will receive a $1,000 stipend for successful program completion. Limited housing is available for teachers who reside outside the local area. Graduate credits are available.
