Board Election 2023

Dear CLASS members:

It’s that time of the year again, voting for our new board members for CLASS! 

It’s that time of the year again, voting for our new board member(s) for CLASS! 
The CLASS Election Committee 2023 has prepared a ballot for you to vote on. Each CLASS member who renewed their CLASS membership or joined CLASS before April 1, 2023, is eligible to vote. The voting window will be open on Friday, September 22, 2023,  and will be closed on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at 12:00 midnight Eastern Daylight Saving Time.

Here is how to vote:

The following candidate was nominated by the CLASS Board.

Yunliang Bao earned her Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from Jilin University in China in 2005. She taught students from K to the university level. Her most recent teaching experience is working in the Chinese Immersion Program in Utah. Currently, she serves as a Chinese Immersion Coordinator for the Utah State Board of Education, involved in designing professional development training and supporting school admin and coaches for continuous improvement in teaching and learning. 

She has made three presentations at ACTFL conventions, and two presentations at the International Immersion Conference. She fully embraces the growth mindset and has participated in workshops including Integrated Performance Assessment (CLASS, 2020), Designing Effective Learning Episodes (PEARLL, 2021), Modified Oral Proficiency Interview (2022), and Coaching for Innovative Lesson Design (University of Maryland 2023 Startalk Program), etc. 

Her professional interests include proficiency-based instruction, backward design, and teaching language through content. Her professional goals are: to design content (math, science, social studies) lesson plans that scaffold students’ conceptual understanding and language output by utilizing backward design; to help build and develop highly effective Chinese teams within and across the schools through well-structured and goal-oriented PLCs.
