Description: Choate Rosemary Hall seeks a full time instructor of Mandarin Chinese with a start date of August 25, 2015. Currently Choate offers six levels of Chinese from beginning to AP (fifth year) and, in the sixth year level, Contemporary Issues in Chinese Language and Culture. Candidates must be able to teach first through fifth-year Chinese at the advanced level. Ideal candidates are expected to have three to five years of teaching experience and an advanced degree. Applicants must be dynamic individuals who are passionate about their discipline, collaborative and innovative in their approach to teaching, and who embrace and support the diversity of our student body. Description: Lake Forest Country Day School is seeking a Grade 4-8 Mandarin Chinese teacher for the 2014-15 school year. LFCDS is seeking an innovative teacher with experience teaching American children and native or near-native Mandarin language ability. The successful candidate will build on LFCDS’ successful, seven-year-old Chinese program built on Comprehensible Input-based teaching. LFCDS seeks a teacher with an interactive, collaborative teaching style who maximizes use of Chinese in classes at all levels while maintaining student comprehension and engagement. Cultural understanding will be interspersed throughout the curriculum. Communicative proficiency will be the main goal, with most students ready to enter Chinese 2 or above in high school. Other duties include student supervision, advisory, and collaborating with colleagues. A 5-day Chinese immersion field trip to San Francisco, led by the teacher, is a capstone of the Grade 8 Chinese program.
